If only animals could talk, what tales would Willow tell?
From The New York Times:
A calico cat named Willow, who disappeared from a home near the Rocky Mountains five years ago, was found on Wednesday on a Manhattan street and will soon be returned to her family, where two of the three children and one of the two dogs may remember her.

How she got to New York, more than 1,800 miles away, and the kind of life she lived in the city are mysteries.
But thanks to a microchip that was implanted when she was a kitten, Willow will be reunited in Boulder, Colo., with her owners, the Squireses, who had long ago given up hope. (Read the full story here.)
Five years and 1,800 miles . . . It’s hard to imagine how she made it to New York City. My vote is that a kindly couple took took her into their home and eventually moved with the kitty to New York. But hey, maybe she wanted to run away to the Big Apple to become famous. It certainly worked! Lesson from this story? Microchip your pet!
Speaking of famous journeys, have you heard of Bobbie the Wonder Dog? I learned about his odyssey while on a road trip in Oregon. In 1924, this collie-mix got lost on a family vacation in Indiana. Six months and 2,800 miles later, he appeared at his family home in Oregon. Witnesses across the country confirmed Bobbie’s incredible journey. Check out the story of this true, amazing adventure on Bobbie’s very own website.
Here’s a picture of Bobbie from the 1920s (via the Oregon Encyclopedia online).
That was one dedicated and plucky pup!
When I was in high school, my friend Mike’s family lost their dog Jojo in Florida. He found his way back to Ohio nine months later. Pretty amazing!
WOW!! That is crazy! : ) : )
