In the news, I’ve been reading about the record heat wave across the country that’s pushing temperatures into the 90’s and above. Meanwhile, here in Venice, it’s just starting to feel like summer.
In solidarity to the rest of you guys suffering in the summer heat, I thought I’d share a few pics from the recent Venice Home and Garden Tour, which takes place every year in Venice Beach. This should put us all in the summer spirit, and remind us of what we love best about this time of year:
Like fresh, in season fruits and veggies (an herb and veggie garden on the rooftop deck of a Venice residence) . . .
Luscious blooming gardens . . . (the eclectic backyard garden of a local Venice artist)
Summertime sports (beach cruiser + bungalow) . . .
. . . And of course, just kicking back and relaxing, because it’s too hot to do anything else!
Here’s to looking forward to another three months of summer weather!
Great photos! I wish I had made it to this event.
Thanks – I have a slew of photos and plan to write a Weekender Blog entry about the event, but I decided to wait until next spring to do it, so it’s timed to come out before the event in 2012. I figure it’s more fun to be reminded about an event before it happens, rather than after the fact… : )
What a beautiful cat! And I love the photos, as always.
Is that your kitty? It’s beautiful.
I wish that was my cat. It was a very relaxed resident of one of the homes featured in the Venice Home and Garden Tour. Later he sauntered over to the fence to greet people as they came in the front yard. Sadly though, kitties give me the sneezes, so I can only pet them sparingly…
What a great fundraising concept! Of course, that’s because I’m a little nosy and have always enjoyed stepping into other people’s homes to admire their home decor 😉 Great photo composition of the cat on the window sill. I love how the head is just tilted up—it brings so much focus to the beautiful eyes!
Thank you about the cat picture. The kitty posed for just a second – so I was happy I managed to capture it with my camera! And yes – peeking into peoples homes is just about the funnest Sunday afternoon activity I can imagine! : )
