Summer is coming, and it’s time to start making vacation plans! Whether it’s a long weekend, or a long week, we all could use some time away from the daily grind. And that goes for our pups as well.
On a couple of my favorite blogs, the topic of National Parks visits and dogs has come up. Although National Parks don’t allow dogs in most areas, it’s still possible to visit some of the classic parks, like Yosemite, and bring your furry buddy along. It will take some research, and a little resourcefulness, but it can be done (and legally too). : )
For instance, we took Toki to Yosemite and the surrounding areas, and managed to hit a lot of the highlights – including the Nelder Grove Sequoias, the Yosemite Mountain Sugar Pine Railroad, Bridal Veil Falls, Tuolumne Meadows, and nearby Mono Lake.
Some of you might not know that I have another blog, called The Weekender Blog. This blog focuses on outdoor adventures and unusual weekend escapes. Because I’ve been spending more time on The Daily Toki, The Weekender Blog has been somewhat neglected lately . . . I’m sure I’ll pick it up again soon, but in the meantime, I’ll be sharing some of my past posts and photography from the Weekender Blog here on The Daily Toki.
One of those posts was a series that I wrote about our amazing, three-day whirlwind, dog-friendly road trip through Southern California. These are some of the photos from my Weekender road trip story. For more details on the ultimate so-cal, pup-friendly roadtrip, check out my Yosemite series: The Great Sierra Circuit Part I (The Ultimate So-Cal Roadtrip), Part II (Yosemite Valley to Mono Lake), and Part III (Shooting it up – with camera – in the Alabama Hills). It includes info on dog-friendly destinations and tips for traveling in the Yosemite-Sierra Mountains area, and as an added bonus, you can check out pics of Toki as a tiny pup!
. . . Also, as a reminder, Sunday is the last day to enter the leash giveaway. Check out our review and giveaway guidelines, and enter today by commenting on any post this week or on The Daily Toki facebook page.
Have a great weekend, and happy adventuring!!
Love it! The profile of Toki is the photo I used for the treat jar! I also revisited your posts on Weekender – great pictures! And I agree that no trip is complete without peanut M&Ms!!! Have a great weekend!
Thanks! Toki’s treat jar is right next to the door, so we can always grab a few treats on our way out. : )
Oh wow, stunning photos! I love trekking in the great outdoors and hope one day to visit Yosemite. Looks like you all had a great time sharing the experience of being in nature. Hope Toki enjoyed her bath in the falls…you can’t more natural than that!
It was a hot day, so I think she rather enjoyed the cool mist from the falls. We did too!
Lovely photos! I will check out your series. We’ve done a lot of research on the national parks for our trip and we’re hoping we can hit most of the high points, even if one of us has to stay back with Gus.
Thankfully he can accompany us to the national forests.
Happy Friday and weekend to you!
Hope you had a great weekend as well. I’m looking forward to checking out all of the places that you hit up in SoCal on your road trip! I’m sure we’ll get lots of fun ideas from your experiences.
Beautiful photos! I will have to check out your other blog. Camping and trips with the four legged crew are truly fun, and I love seeing their noses on overload!
Thanks Kimi. It’s always fun to watch Toki’s reaction when we open the windows at our camping destination. Even in the car, she can’t get enough of that country air.
Sounds like you have some great summer plan!
Benny & Lily
stunning photos, Toki complements the scenery.
I was lucky enough to see a bear during my trek through Yosemite last summer! I also saw a bunch of dogs. 🙂
Those pictures of Toki look stunning. Her fur stands out against everything, but blends in with the snow.
Yes – We can’t leave our pups behind! Luckily Toki wasn’t with me when I saw that brown bear in the photo… Interestingly, he was eating grass, which I didn’t know that bears ate.
It is quite possible that Toki is more traveled than I am. Great photos!
Amazing photos!
That third picture could easily be in movie poster.
aroooooo! beautiful!
Thank you Puppy Jones!
I did see your comment on my blog the other day mentioning that dogs ARE allowed in some National Parks but I think I forgot to reply. I do know that they are allowed in a few parks across the country but in Washington they are only allowed on one trail in Olympic National Park (recently opened to dogs) and the parts of the Pacific Crest Trail that run throung Mount Rainier and Cascades National Parks. It’s fun to learn what parks they can experience in other states. Thanks for sharing.
At least we have National Forests . . . : )
Gosh I love your pictures. We’ve never been to Yosemite but hope to travel there this summer – beautiful!!
