People love a good deal just as much as dogs love a new toy.
If you like Groupon, LivingSocial, or the many social buying programs that use the collective power of many people to snag amazing discounts, you’ll love some of the new dog-oriented sites that offer daily deals for 50-90% of toys, treats and other dog products.
I signed up for PetSimply.com after reading a New York Time’s article on the many specialized Groupon-style websites that have sprung up to meet the demands of smaller communities with particular interests (like pet owners or people who follow a gluten-free diet).
Then, as I was putting together this post, I noticed that fellow dog blogger, According to Gus, just featured the website BarkingDeals.com, another social buying program website catering to dog owners.
Strangely, both websites feature almost identical color schemes. They also feature similar deals – in the past week for instance, both have featured the Kong Wubba Friend for half price. I haven’t bought any items from either website, so I can’t speak to differences in customer service, etc., but it’s probably worth signing up for both sites if you’re interested in daily deals. One potentially significant difference is that BarkingDeals offers automatic free shipping, and their offers are purchased directly from the BarkingDeals website. Deals on PetSimply must be redeemed on the individual merchant’s website, and not all the deals include free shipping.
Do you know of any other interesting social buying programs? Has anyone tried both of these sites?
